Mass of the Christian burial for Veronica Kemper of Carroll will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.

Mrs. Kemper, 99, died Friday, July 7, at Carroll Health Center.

The Revs. Laurence Burns and Randy Schon will co-celebrate the Mass. Lector will be Vernell Wittrock. Gift bearers will be Vernell Wittrock, Jolene Handlos and Velma Bueltel.

Casket bearers will be Duane Bueltel, Earl Wittrock, Paul Handlos, Arlo Bueltel, Dale Bueltel and Leon Bierl.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.

Visitation started and the Catholic Daughters of America and Legion of Mary led a rosary this afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. St. Lawrence Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

The Catholic Daughters of America will form an honor guard at the church for the funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation.

A daughter of Anton and Philomena (Loxterkamp) Bierl, She was born Feb. 8, 1901, at Templeton, attended Holy Angels School at Roselle and spent her younger years in the Templeton and Roselle communities.

She and Frank Kemper were married Sept. 20, 1927, at Holy Angels Church in Roselle.

The Kempers farmed four miles south of Templeton until 1967, when they moved to Manning.

Mrs. Kemper moved to Carroll in 1985. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and Ladies Guild, the Catholic Daughters, Legion of Mary and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and reading.

Mrs. Kemper was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank in May 1974; a daughter, Norma Jean Kemper, in infancy; and two sisters, Pauline Bierl and Irene Bueltel.

Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Bueltel, of Carroll; a brother, Omar Bierl, and his wife, Elaine, of Arcadia; and many nieces and nephews.
