SCRANTON--Mass of the Christian burial for Rita (Mrs. Alphonse) Nepple, 64, of Scranton will be Friday, April 14, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Scranton.

Mrs. Nepple died Monday afternoon, April 10, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Concelebrating the Mass will be Monsignor O. W. Koester, the Rev. Jim Bruch and a nephew, the Rev. Steve Boes. Lector will be Tom Wittrock. Gift bearers will be granddaughters, and Mass servers will be Chris Nepple, Jason Nepple, Tim Nepple and Kelly Meyer.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Manning.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton. A rosary will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. On Thursday, there will be a rosary by the Legion of Mary at 3 p.m., a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m., and a Scriptural prayer service at 8:30 p.m.

Casket bearers will be Charles Nepple Jr., Airman Joseph Nepple, Curt Nepple, Rodney Stephenson, John Nepple and Brian Nepple and Roger Stephenson.

Organist will be Monica McGregor and Shelia Pound will be soloist.

Mrs. Nepple was born on Aug. 30, 1924, at Mount Carmel, a daughter of Henry and Sophia (Odendahl) Vonnahme.

She attended school at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School.

On Aug. 30, 1943, she was married to Alphonse Nepple by the Rev. Peter Sturm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

The Nepples lived in Manning for 17 years until 1967 when they moved to Carroll. They lived in Carroll until 1976 when they moved to Scranton.

Mrs. Nepple was a former employee of St. Anthony Regional Hospital where she worked for 10 years.

She was a member of St. Paul Church of Scranton and the Rosary Sodality of the church and the Progressive Neighbors Club of Scranton.

Survivors include her husband, Alphonse, of Scranton; her children: Charles and his wife, Pat, of Sioux City; Rosie (Mrs. Don) Obman of Lake View; Lloyd and his wife, Janis, of Spaulding, Neb.; Marvin and his wife, Jane, of Westside; Ruth (Mrs. Bob) Stephenson of Scranton; Alvin and his wife, Karen, of Glidden; David and his wife, Joan, of Lohrville, Mary Agnes (Mrs. Al) Daniel of Carroll; Mary Anne (Mrs. Gary) McCormick of Jefferson; Madonna (Mrs. Larry) Meyer of Glidden; Eugene and his wife, Deb, of Carroll; Joan Nepple of Carroll; and Mary Lou (Mrs. Mark) Irelbeck of Des Moines. 37 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. Also sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Wieland of Carroll; Teresa (Mrs. Paul) Kasperbauer of Templeton; and Mrs. Margaret Wieland of Carroll; brothers, Fred Vonnahme of Mount Carmel; Clarence Vonnahmne and his wife, Caroline, of Manning; and Erwin Vonnahme and his wife, Rita, of Arcadia; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Delores Vonnahme and Mrs. Cecelia Vonnahme of Mount Carmel, both of Mount Carmel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two children in infancy, Anna Marie and Jean Marie; three brothers, Ferdinand, Ray and Carl; a daughter-in-law, Rita Ann Nepple; a sister-in-law, Bertha Vonnahme; and two brothers-in-law, Art and Norbert Wieland.
