10 May 1945 - Carrol Times Herald

Manning--Funeral services for Herman Struve, formerly of Manning, were held at Schacks Funeral home in Harlan at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. Robert Kinersley conducting the rites. Burial was in the city cemetery. Music was furnished by Dorothy Savereide, soloist, with Emily Jean Hicks, accompanist. Pall bearers were Nick Polzois, Joe Engle, Clifford Haskill, John Petersen, Lloyd Benning and Roy Laver.

Mr. Struve, born Oct. 11, 1887, a son of Claus and Dorothea Struve, died at Harlan May 3, at the age of 57 years. He had apparently been in good health. Death came to him suddenly while on the street in Harlan, his home.

On Nov. 3, 1913 he was married to Alfrieda Sievers at Manning. To them were born four children: Mrs. Harley Petersen, Harlan; Max Struve, who is serving in the United States Air Corps, Mrs. Everett Stubb, Mo., and Gerald Struve, who is with the armed forces in Italy.

Besides his wife and children he leaves two brothers, John Struve and George Struve, of Manning; also six grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

Most of his life was spent in Manning until he moved to Harlan three years ago.
