Abbie Catherine Waters
Richmond, VA

Abbie Catherine Waters, age 9, daughter of Mary Ann Waters and Jeff Bernas of Richmond, VA lived a vibrant life. On April 22, 2011, she passed gracefully at MCV Hospital in her parents' arms with close friends and family at her bedside. Bravely with wit and an inquisitive nature she battled two bouts of an aggressive form of childhood cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma, lasting over a year and a half.

Abbie was welcomed into heaven by her grand-parents Betty Bernas of Lynchburg, VA and Jim and Lois Abbie Waters of Carroll, IA, as well as her much beloved uncle Bob Waters of McLean, VA. Abbie's love of life, laughter, bright smile and blue eyes left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the privilege to cross her path. She loved: sleepovers, music, school, texting, swimming and her dog, Nia. She adored her friends, family, and all those who took care of her, along with steak, salmon and the color turquoise.

There will be a "Celebration of Life Party" with games, food, and music, at Linwood Holton Elementary School (1600 W. Laburnam Ave) on May 10, 2011 at 1 p.m.. Those attending are encouraged to wear turquoise, purple, pink, or green and to paint their fingernails with exotic colors and designs.
