Sept 19, 1955 - Carroll Daily Times - John J. Connors, 83, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 8:30 Sunday morning at his home 1020 Simon Avenue. He was a retired Chicago & North Western Railway employee. Solemn requiem mass will be read at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the St Lawrence Church. The Rev. Arthur S Poeckes will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the family lot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mr Connors had lived in Carroll County since he was 10 years old. Born May 25, 1872 at Mendota, Illinois, he came to Iowa with his parents, Thomas and Bridget Connors, when he was a small child. They lived in Clinton County before moving to Maple River in 1882.

Mr Connors was married to Mary Agnes O'Boyle May 28, 1892 at St Anns Church in Vail with the Rev. Fr. Murphy officiating.

They established their home in Carroll where Mr Connors was employed as baggage agent for the Chicago & North Western Railway system. He transferred later to the bridge and builders department, continuing in this capacity until he retired in 1937.

Surviving are two sons, Karl, Los Angeles, Calif., and Leonard, Carroll; one grandson, Thomas Connors; two brothers, Steve and Joseph Connors; and three sisters: Mrs Mary Daiker, Catherine, and Irene Connors, all living in Carroll with the exception of Mrs Daiker, whose home is at Santa Ana, Ca.

Mr Connors was preceded in death by his wife April 2, 1953; a daughter, Lucille in 1942; and a brother, Owen in 1937.

Earl Connors is on his way to Carroll having left for his vacation shortly before his fathers death.
