Sept 13, 1917 - Carroll Times - Thomas Connors, one of the old and respected settlers of Carroll county passed away at his home on Tenth and Simon avenue, Saturday afternoon being bedfast for the past two weeks and in failing health for almost a year. Burial was made from St. Joseph's church at nine o'clock Tuesday morning.

He was born in Longford county, Ireland, in 1844 and came to America when a young man. Some forty years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Bridget Finnegan. They made their home in Sheridan township until fourteen years ago when they moved to Carroll, locating in the northwest part of the city, where they lived on fifteen acres of land.

This land Mr. Connors lately sold for the Highland Park addition to the city and their old home occupies one of the western lots in that city. They have been living in their beautiful new home but two months. Mr. Connors was a good citizen and neighbor. He took a great interest in the affairs of the day and was a pleasant man to meet.

He is survived by his wife and the following children: John and Owen of this city; Stephan, of Omaha; Joseph, of Los Angeles; Mary, Mrs. Daiker, of Green, Iowa; and the Misses Irene and Catherine at home. One nephew, Peter Connor, has always lived with his uncle. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

The following relatives and friends from out of the city attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Prendergast, of Fonda; Katherine Donelon, of Fonda, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank O'Boyle, of Vail.
