Jan 7, 1897 - Carroll Sentinel - Mrs. Mary Boyce, wife of Jas. M. Boyce, died at her home east of the city New Year's eve after a lingering illness of several months. Her remains were laid to rest Sunday in St. Joseph's cemetery. Rev. Father O'Connor delivered an able serman at the funeral exercises, which were conducted at the church.

For some time the deceased has been failing and her death was due more to old age than any other cause. She was a kind, patient, Christian woman, a loving mother and a faithful wife.

She leaves a husband, three sons and a daughter to mourn her loss. Mr. Boyce and family located on the old homestead in Grant township at an early day in the history of this city and have lived there ever since. The deceased was well known by many, who join with the relatives in mourning her loss.
