Jan 11, 1923 - Carroll Times - James M. Boyce, 91 years old, and a resident of Carroll county 18 years, died yesterday morning at the St. Anthony hospital where he had made his home since 1901.

He was born in Ireland in 1831, came to America in 1855 and to Carroll county in 1874. He was a faithful member of the Catholic church and it is related that he hauled the first load of building material for the first Catholic church to be erected in Carroll. When Mr. Boyce first came to America he located in Washington, D.C., and later moved to Freeport, Illinois.

In 1862 he and Miss Mary Madigan were united in marriage and to this union five, children were born, all of whom are living. They are: Thomas and James Boyce, of Omaha; John and Michael Boyce, of Carroll, and a daughter, Mary, who resides in Omaha. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at the Sts. Peter and Paul's church in Carroll.
