June 29, 1888 - Carroll Sentinel - Patrick Bowler, aged 19 years, youngest brother of John and Morris Bowler of Carroll, died at the home of the latter last Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock.

He was conscious to the last moment, and sent for all the family to come and say good bye. Mr. John Bowler reached him but a few moments after his death. The funeral took place Wednesday at St. Joseph's church, and was largely attended.

The young man left his home in Ireland, where his aged parents are yet living, 15 months ago, in rugged health. He first stopped at Clinton where he at once found employment. He had received an excellent education, and was the baby, or youngest child, in the large family.

Seven months ago he was attacked with typhoid fever, and after it inflamation of the bowels. When he got upon his feet he was unable to retain any substantial food, and so never gained strength, but gradually wasted away.

Three months ago he came to Carroll, still hoping he would soon pick up, when he was going to Chadron to take a position in his brother's office there. He was a young man of great promise, and the intelligence of his death will be a crushing blow to the loving hearts in the old home across the sea.
