Dec 30, 1926 - Carroll Times - Henry Arntz died at 5 o'clock Friday evening, December 24, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Fritz, after a lingering illness of a year's duration. The greater part of the time was spent as a patient at the St. Anthony hospital.

Henry Arntz was born in Calear, Germany, January 6, 1843. He was married to Miss Dorothy Coenders in 1869. Seven children were born to them, three of whom preceded their parents in death. One son, John, was killed by a train and one son, Henry, died in infancy. One daughter, Mrs. George Pfarrdrescher, died in 1892. Mrs. Arntz died in this city December 10, 1919.

The survivors are four daughters; Mrs. Frank Fritz, Mrs. Fred Meyers and Mrs. Henry Goodman of Carroll, Ia., and Mrs. Richard Geigle of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Mr. Arntz came to America in July, 1879, and became a citizen of the United States September 30, 1884. He was a tailor by trade and was a quiet, unassuming gentleman, whom it was a rare pleasure to meet. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock at the S.S. Peter and Paul church. The Holy Name society attended in a body. The pallbearers were Henry Gnam, M. Nagl, D. Rettenmaier, John Walz, Al Becker and Lawrence Meinhart.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Richard Geigle of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mrs. Bert Landon of Huron, S.D.; Miss Dorothy Meyer of Des Moines, George Meyer and Roy Couch of Newton, Ia.; J.B. Keough of Clarion, Ia., and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tranter of Ralston, Ia.
