Dec 18, 1919 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Henry Arntz died at her home on Wednesday night, December 10th, at 10:50 o'clock. Death was due to ailments brought on by old age. Mrs. Arntz had been ill for ten weeks prior to her death, two weeks being spent in St. Anthony hospital after which she was brought home where she lingered until the Angel of Death relieved her of all sufferings. One of Carroll's pioneer settlers has answered the last call and left a void which nothing can fill. In 1879 she came to America with her husband and children and settled in Carroll county where they have since lived. Mrs. Arntz was beloved and honored by all who knew her and her beautiful life and happy death will ever be a source of pride and loving memories to those who mourn her death.

Dorothea Coedners was born in Calkar, Rhine Province, Germany, eighty years ago. On April 25, 1860, she was united in marriage to Henry Arntz. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom with the husband and father are left to mourn. Three children passed to the Great Beyond; one son died in infancy; John was killed in a railroad accident when eighteen years old, and Anna, Mrs. George Pfarrdrescher, died twenty-six years ago.

The living children are: Mrs. Frank Fritz, Mrs. Fred Meyer, and Mrs, Henry Goodman of Carroll, and Mrs. Jesse Day of Grand Rapids, Mich. Fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at S.S. Peter and Paul's church. The pall bearers were: John Gruber, Henry Gnam, James Fritz, Alois Becker, Henry Schaber and George Hess.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Rora Day of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Keough of Clarion; Mrs Bert Dandon of Huron, S.D., and Henry Pfarrdrescher of Burlington, Wis.
