In 1901 he was married to Miss Maria Callaway at Carroll. For twenty years Mr. and Mrs. Stevens lived on their farm northeast of Carroll. For a few years after leaving the farm they resided in their home at Carroll before going to Newton in September, 1920, to take up their residence. At Newton Mr. Stevens had a grocery store. Following a ten year residence at Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Stevens moved to Colfax, which has been their home for the last three years.

His wife and Violet Stevens arrived in Carroll Friday afternoon and are at the Carl Bauerle home. His daughter, Mrs. Callaway, will also be here for the services.

Mr. Stevens was a member of the Methodist Church. Fraternally, he belonged to the Odd Fellow lodge and its branches and the Rebekah Lodge. While living in Carroll he took a leading part in Odd Fellow work, having filled all of the offices of the local lodge, including the highest office of noble grand.
