Dec 20, 1941 - Carroll Times - After a long illness, death came to Miss Mary Jones at her home 620 North Carroll Street, at 5:45 this morning. Miss Jones had been in declining health for the last four years and bedfast for the past two months. Her age was 75 years. Funeral services are to be at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. R.J. MacDanel officiating. Burial will be in the Carroll Cemetery.

The body is being returned at 4 o'clock this afternoon from the Huffman Funeral Home to Miss Jones residence, where it will rest until the time of the rites.

Miss Jones, a native born April 4, 1866, a daughter, of Thomas and Elizabeth Jones, who had settled in Ohio on their arrival in the United States from England in 1856. She was one of a family of eight children. She was only two years old when her mother passed away. Shortly afterward she was taken into the home of the Jeremiah Todd family, Carroll county pioneers, who located at Roselle and subsequently came to Carroll.

For many years Miss Jones and Miss Ella Todd, now deceased, made their home together. They were in partnership in the millinery business here for several years. Later on, Miss Jones clerked in various stores.

Surviving is one brother, George Jones, who made his home with his sister. There are also nieces and nephews. Miss Jones was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She also belonged to the Ladies Aid Society of the Church, in which she had taken an active part as long as her health permitted.
