Oct 19, 1954 - Carroll Daily Times - Truman Garfield Ralph, 72, Carroll, Route 3, died of phlebitis at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Hospital, where he had been a patient since Sept. 26. Mr. Ralph, member of a well known pioneer family here, lived in the Beulah District southwest of Carroll.
Funeral services will be at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Huffman Funeral Home, where the body is resting until the time of the rites. The Rev. Walter B. Schiel, minister of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Mr. Ralph was born Jan. 14, 1882, at Hazel Green, Wis. In the spring of the same year, he came to Carroll County with his parents, James R. and Mary Ralph. After attending Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. Mr. Ralph taught school before engaging in farming. He was married to Nan Reld Barr Feb. 17, 1909, at Carroll. Since February, 1919, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph have lived in their present farm home southwest of Carroll.
Besides his wife, Mr. Ralph leaves two sons, Raymond D. Ralph, 0sage, and John T. Ralph, Mount Prospect, Illinois; three grandchildren; one brother, J.O. Ralph, Sac City; and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Emmons, Centerville, Ia.
One son, LeRoy B. Ralph of Webb, died Dec. 11, 1951. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, J.M., W.T., W.Z., and Amos Ralph. Mr. Ralph was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
