James Rowe Ralph 1847-1919

Aug 9, 1919 - Carroll Times - J.R. Ralph died at his home on North Crawford street Friday afternoon after being in a feeble condition for a number of years, since suffering a stroke of paralysis. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Burton Shepard.

Mr. Ralph was born at Lands End, England, April 16, 1847 and at the age of two years came to America with his parents, locating at Hazel Green, Wisc., which continued to be his home until 1880, when he moved to a farm in this county. In 1905 he retired from active life and moved to this city. His wife, who was Miss Mary Bowden, of Cuba City, Wis., died in this city in 1911.

The following children are left to mourn for their father: Jesse, Wellington, William Z., James Oliver, Truman Garfleld, and Mary Pearl.

One son, William B,, died in infancy and another, Amos H., lived to be eleven years old.
