June 18, 1979 - Carroll Daily Times - Funeral services for Mrs Judd (Ethel Lucy) Forbes 92, a former resident of Carroll, were held Wednesday June 13 at 10 a.m. in the First United Presbyterian Church at Walnut, Iowa. Burial, under direction of Roland's Funeral Service, Atlantic, was in the Carroll city cemetery, with services by the Walnut Order of Eastern Star. Mrs Forbes died Saturday June 9, at a daughter's home in Goshen, Ind.

Survivors include two daughters: Mrs Stanley (Emma) Freeman, New Castle, Wyo., and Mrs Orris (Myrtle) Huber Goshen, Ind; two sons: Judd W Forbes, Goshen, Ind. and Newell R. Forbes, Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchiidren; and 11 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded by a daughter, Ethel L Reimer, a granddaughter, a sister, Myrtle Walden, and two brothers, William and George Walden.

Mrs Forbes was born Sept 18, 1886 at Clinton a daughter of William J and Lucy L Manville Walden. She attended DeWitt schools and graduated in 1906 from East High, Des Moines. She moved with her family to Scranton and later to Carroll, where she was married to Judd W Forbes April 19, 1908.

They moved to Walnut where her husband died in 1936. She lived in Walnut until moving to Goshen last April. She had been employed as a funeral director's aide and a telephone clerk-operator. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Walnut, a charter member of the OES, a member of the Priscilla Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
