March 20, 1929 - Carroll Times - Mrs. George W. Hudgins died at her home on North East street, Carroll, Thursday at the age of 66 years and 5 months. The deceased had been in poor health for several years but she bore her sufferings with true Christian fortitude, and death came as a sweet release. She looked forward to the time when she would meet her Savior face to face and her earthly sufferings would be ended.

Mary Ann Bennett, daughter ot Mr. and Mrs. James Bennett, was born near Garden Grove, Decatur county, Iowa, October 14, 1862. In 1877 she moved with her parents to LaMoille, Ia., where she grew to womanhood. On January 16, 1879, she was united in marriage to Geo. W. Hudgins. Five children were born to them, four of whom, with the husband, survive. The children are Mrs. Martha Rykhus of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Alta Johnson, Denison; Ben, Eagle Grove; and Ada, at home.

James Wessley, the eldest son, died February 15, 1919. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Rachel Moore, LaMoille, Ia., one brother, George Bennett of LaSalle, Illinois, and other relatives and friends.

The Hudgins family moved to this community in 1901. The deceased had always held her family and her home closest to her heart and up until her health became poorly she found the greatest pleasure in her immediate surroundings. Her many acts of kindness extended to her neighbors and friends will always be remembered with gratitude.

On January 16 of this year Mr. and Mrs. Hudgins observed their golden wedding anniversary in a quiet way. In August, 1913, Mrs. Hudgins united with the Seventh Day Adventist church of this community to which faith she continued true to the end of her earthly life.

The funeral service was held at the home on Saturday afternoon, March 16, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted, by Rev. Arthur M. Eastman. The body was laid to rest in the city cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson and children of Denison; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hudgins and son, Carl, of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. S.O. Rykhus of Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Rykhus and family of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Rachel Moore of LaMoille, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Simpson of Nemaha, Ia.
