SHARP, CALLAWAY, JENKINS, RIEMAN, MIKKLESEN, WILLIAMS, FARRELL

Nov 14, 1936 - Carroll Daily - William Sharp of Lanesboro, a brother of Mrs. Laura Callaway, Arthur and Frank Sharp of Carroll, passed away at his home at 9:45 o'clock Friday night, his death following a stroke of paralysis with which he was seized shortly after breakfast Thursday morning. Mr Sharp had been in ill health since undergoing a major operation four years ago, but had been able to be up and about and to mingle with his friends.

Funeral arrangements have been completed, it is planned to hold the services at the family home in Lanesboro at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Burial will be in the family lot in the Carroll city cemetery.

Mr. Sharp, a son of the late Rev. John F. and Amanda Sharp, was born at Oskaloosa, Ia., March 24, 1860. His father was a minister of the United Brethern church and his boyhood was spent in various Iowa towns to which his father was assigned. Most of his early manhod was spent at Irwin, IA.

On Jan 6, 1889, at Irwin he was married to Miss Amy Jenkins of that place. Their home was established at Kirkman where Mr. Sharp had a blackmsith shop. Until his retirement 4 years ago on account of ill health, he continued to work as a blacksmith, operating shops in several different places. After a years residence at Kirkman, Mr and Mrs Sharp moved to Old Carollton, where they lived for several years. They then moved to Glidden which was their home for 6 years. Subsequently they lived at Yetter and Auburn, then moving back to Yetter before locating in Lanesboro in 1917. Mr Sharp operated his shop at Lanesboro until 4 years ago and since that time he has rented it. Mr. Sharp at one time served on the Lanesboro town council. He was a member of the church of Christ at Lanesboro and was also a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge of Lanesboro.

Surviving are his widow and 5 children: Mrs Henry Rieman (Grace), Yetter; Mrs Chris Mikklesen (Lillie), Comertown, MT; Mrs. Harold Mikklesen (Mabel), Foxhome, MN; Guy Sharp at home; and Mrs Ernest Williams (Bertha), also of Lanesboro. Mr Sharp leaves 8 grandchildren, one great grandchild, three brothers: Robert Sharp of Sutherland, NE; Arthur and Frank Sharp of Carroll; and one sister, Mrs Laura Callaway of Carroll.

A son, Glenn Sharp (a twin brother of Guy), passed away in 1911 at the age of nine. The late Mrs. Lincoln Farrell was a sister of Mr Sharp.
