William John Beidler 1904-1985

April 8, 1985 - Carroll Daily Times - William John Beidler Sr., 80, a retired Carroll farmer, died Friday, April 5, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Immanuel Lutheran church in Lidderdale with the Rev. Edgar Rosen officiating. Mrs. Laverdos Onken was organist. Burial was in the Carroll cemetery. Serving as active casketbearers were grandsons: Eugene Morris, Craig Beidler, Daniel Beidler, Mike Beidler, Jeff Beidler and Brian Beidler. Honorary bearers were also grandsons: Gerry Shake, Gary Shake, Craig Blanchfield, Gerald Berger and Monte Rohrbeck. A prayer service was conducted at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll at 8 p.m. Sunday. The casket was moved to the church at 11:30 a.m. Monday to lie in state until time of services.

Mr. Beidler is survived by his wife Golda, rural Carroll; the following children: Mrs. Dick (Betty) Morris, Lohrville; William Jr. (Colene) Beidler, Glidden; Donald (Jane) Beidler, Carroll; Dale (Donna) Beidler, Carroll, and Mrs. Ray (Pamela) Borst, Mesa, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mrs. Lillian Janssen in 1981.

Mr. Beidler was born on a farm in near Carroll on July 14, 1904, a son of John and Mary Platt Beidler. He attended Grant Township schools. On May 21, 1929, he was married to Golda Caywood at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa. He lived on the same farm all his life. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church at Lidderdale and served it as elder, financial secretary and treasurer. He also served as a Grant Township trustee for many years.
