Feb 12, 1962 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs. John Beidler, 89, longtime resident of Carroll County, died early Sunday afternoon, Feb. 11, at the Holstein Nursing Home where she had been a patient for about six weeks. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, of which Mrs. Beidler was a member. The Rev. Harold W. Kieck will officiate; and interment will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Huffman Funeral Home in Carroll after 2 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church at noon Wednesday.

Surviving are one son, William Beidler Sr., Carroll; a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Lillian) Janssen, Carroll; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John Bruggeman, and one brother, Charles Platt, both of Carroll.

Mrs. Beidler was born Oct. 23, 1872, at Lockport, Illinois, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Platt. They came to Iowa in 1877; and on Feb. 9, 1900, she married John Beidler at Carroll. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Beidler lived at Humboldt, Neb., for two years. Returning to Iowa, they farmed 4 1/2 miles northeast of Carroll until 1929, then moved into Carroll. Mr. Beidler died April 10, 1939. In 1957, Mrs. Beidler made her home with her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Janssen, living there until entering the nursing home.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Beidler was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Fred and John Platt.
