April 10, 1939 - Carroll Daily - John Beidler, well-known retired farmer, dropped dead of a heart attack at his home on the corner of North Court and East Ninth Streets, about 8:15 this morning. Mrs Beidler, who was in the basement at the time, heard Mr Beidler fall and rushed to him, finding him lying on the bathroom floor. She called a physicain at once, but death had occurred instantly.

Mr. Beidler, who was seventy-one years old, had apparently been in good health. Friday he had complained of not feeling well and it was thought he had a touch of pleurisy. The illness however, did not confine him to bed. Sunday evening his children and their families and other relatives had come to see him and his wife and had enjoyed the evening with him.

The body will be brought home at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Huffman Funeral Home and will rest there until the time of the rites. A short service at the family home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon will be followed by final rites at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 2:30.

Born Jan 26, 1868 at Cincinatti, Ohio, Mr. Beidler lived there until he was twenty-one years old, when he went to Humboldt, Neb. In the spring of 1900 he was married to Miss Mary Platt, the ceremony taking place in Carroll. Mr. Beidler took his bride to Humboldt, where they lived on a farm for two years before moving to Carroll county.

Coming to the county in the spring of 1902, they located on their farm three miles north of Carroll, where they lived until their retirement in the fall of 1929. They have resided in their home on North Court Street since that time. Mr. Beidler was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Carroll, having united with the Lutheran Church many years ago.

Surviving with his wife are one son, William Beidler, and one daughter, Mrs. Albert Janssen (Lillian), both living on farms north of Carroll, four grandchildren, and three brothers: Joe Beidler, Humboldt, Neb.; Charles Beidler, Belvidere, Neb.; and Jacob Beidler, Loveland, Colo. Mr. Beidler was the oldest member of his family.
