July 22, 1933 - Carroll Daily - Mrs. J Henry Janssen, 60, a resident of Carroll county for 58 years died last night at 8 o'clock at her home at 609 North East Street from acute dilatation of the heart. She suffered with diabetis and had been ill for about a year. Six weeks ago she became worse but the last day or two had been in better condition. Her death last evening was unexpected and was a shock to her family and friends. She had taken treatment at St Anthony hospital for about two weeks.

The body will be removed from the Huffman Funeral home to the home at North East street this evening. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon. A short service at the home at 2 o'clock will be followed by services at St Paul's Lutheran church at 2:30 o'clock, both will be conducted by Albert Mueller, the pastor. Burial will be in the city cemetery. The Pallbearers will be John Platt, George Jacobs, Jack Sievers, Fred Kroeger, H F Kolb, and L.M. Rohrbeck.

Louise Theresa Kuschel was born March 25, 1873 in Chicago and with her parents, Albert and Augusta Kuschel, moved to Carroll county in 1857 (sic) and settled in Grant township. She was united in marriage to J Henry Janssen Feb 3, 1897 on the home place, two miles north of Carroll. They went to housekeeping on the Janssen farm nine miles north of the city. They retired from active work and moved to Carroll in March 1922, since then they have lived at the present home.

To them four children were born, one dying in infancy. The survivors are Mrs C.H. Kraemer (Anna) of Morton Grove, Illinois; Albert Janssen and Mrs Elmer Onken (Carrie), living north of Carroll. She also leaves a brother, Frank Kuschel, a sister Mrs R.C.P. Berger, and a mother-in-law, Anna Janssen, all of Carroll; and 5 grandchildren.

Mrs Janssen was brought up in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed in Emanuel church at Lidderdale by the Rev J Sassier, then pastor of that church. She was president of the Ladies Aid Society of St Paul's Lutheran church at Carroll at the time of her death.
