The young man was born in the northern part of this county, south of Lake City June 23, 1897 and would have been seventeen years of age at his next birthday. He was next to the youngest of a family of seven children, the other six of whom survive to share the sorrow of the parents and to comfort them in the hour of bereavement.

The names of the surviving children are: Mrs. Celia Reed, Mrs. Nellie Troxel, Mrs. Bessie Troxel, Clare, Charlie and Earl Waters. The family have not long been residents of Carroll having moved here from the farm on which the deceased spent most of his life. He was a member of the Methodist church.
