March 30, 1916 - Carroll Times - Mrs. William Allen passed away at her home in Dedham Saturday, March 25th, and was buried in the city cemetery at this place Tuesday. Mrs. Allen, whose maiden name was Elma Kingman, was the daughter of R.T. Kingman and was born in Plattville, Kendall county, Illinois, October 7, 1850. Her husband survives her.

Elma C. Kingman was born in Plattville, Kendal county, Illinois, October 7, 1850 and died at her home in Dedham, Iowa, March 25, 1916, being at the time of her death 65 years, 5 months and 18 days old. She was married at Mazon, Illinois, December 12, 1860, to William Allen. To this union were born three children, Nellie Small and Ray Allen, of Dedham, Iowa, and Edna M., who preceeded her mother to the great beyond fourteen years.

She came to Iowa in 1882, settling in Shelby county. After residing there for several years they moved to Carroll, living here until about five years ago when they moved to Dedham where they have since resided.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her children, three brothers, Orin H. Kingman, of Kansas, Fred Kingman, of San Pierre, Indiana, Wm. Kingman, of Blancee, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Jewell Bogart of Mazon, Illinois, and Mrs. Elizabeth Coleman, of Manotan; eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Sister Allen was converted and united with the Baptist church a number of years ago. She was a kind and loving mother, an affectionate wife and loyal to her many friends.
