James Albert Annear 1876-1961

May 18, 1961 - Carroll Daily Times - Mr Annear died at 8:30 am Wednesday May 17, of a heart condition, following a months illness. He was born June 16, 1876 in Pleasant Valley township, Carroll county and lived there his whole life. A son of Joseph & Mary Bedford Annear, he received his education in rural schools and at Essley college, Glidden. He had been a farmer & was a member of the Methodist church at Coon Rapids.

Surviving are two brothers, Arthur Annear, Perry; and John Annear, Coon Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers in infancy, and two sisters: Mrs Frank (Olletha) Hessler and Lily Annear.

May 20, 1961 - Carroll Daily Times - Final rites for James Albert Annear, 84, Coon Rapids, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, at the Huffman Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. Earl E. Josten, pastor of First Methodist Church, officiated. "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Shadows" were sung as duet selections by Mrs. Delbert Ford and Mrs. Roswell Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Paul Nelson, organist. Pallbearers were Kenneth Tolle, Harold Turner, Clayton Roller, Ernest Lloyd, Fred Turner and Orlo Whitten. Burial was in the Carroll City Cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending services included Arthur Annear, Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Annear, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Annear and Lucille, and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Annear, all of Perry; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Neilsen, Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baker, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Overton, Indianola; Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Stale, Manchester; J.A. Clark, Sioux City; and Mrs. Pearl Clausen, Carroll.
