Jan 18, 1923 - Carroll Times - Mrs. George Widman, sr., died in her home Friday at the age of 61 years, 11 months and one day. She led been in poor health for several years but was confined to her bed less than a week. The Widman family has been residents of Jasper township since 1880, living on their farm one mile south of town until 1910 when they moved to Lanesboro where they have since resided.

Mrs. Widman leaves her husband and six children to mourn her departure. They are: Frank, Bennie and Ed who live in the Dakotas; Ralph resides at Fort Dodge; George in Lanesboro, and Mrs. S.C. Zimbeck lives in Lanesboro. All were present at the funeral, the five sons and sons-in-law acting as pallbearers. She also leaves one brother, Henry Miller, and a host of friends.

Mrs. Widman was a kind wife and mother, a good neighbor and was loved by all. Her many little deeds of kindness will always be remembered. Funeral services were held at the church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Spiller and by the Rebekah Lodge of which she had been a member for a number of years. She was laid to rest in the Lanesboro cemetery.
