Nov 15, 1906 - Carroll Times - The Lanesboro News gives the following account of the death of the aged mother of the Stoolman boys as follows:

Grandma Stoolman died Nov. 6th at 7:40 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.D. Hinkley. Miss Katherine Friecher was born in Onida, Co. New York, Dec. 30th 1827. Was married to Chas. Stoolman, June 6th, 1855. Lived at Clinton county for a number of years, then came to Carroll Co. IA 1875, settled in Sheridan Township, finally moving to Carroll where she lost her husband May 20, 1903.

Besides a host of loving friends she leaves three sons and three daughters to mourn her loss. Her children are Mrs. Reeves of South Dakota, Mrs. Hinkley of Lanesboro, Frank and Byron Stoolman of Sheridan Twp., Mrs. Kindred of Calhoun Co. and A. Stoolman of Mapleton. The funeral occurred at East Liberty last Thursday and the remains were laid to rest beside her husband in Mt. Hope cemetery. We join the friends of the family in condolence.
