May 21, 1903 - Carroll Sentinel - Charles Stoolmon died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at his home in the First ward. He had been in poor health for some time, having had a severe attack of the grip. The immediate cause of his death was heart trouble, he having so far recovered from the grip as to be around the house.

Deceased was born about 75 years ago and came United States when he was 26 years old, first settling in New York. From thence he moved to Illinois where he was married, and then went to Clinton county, Iowa. Twenty seven years ago he came to Sheridan township, this county, where he lived until about four years ago when he moved to Carroll.

His aged widow and six children live to mourn his loss. The children are Mrs. Warren Reeves of South Dakota; Mrs. John Hinkley of Lanesboro; Mrs. Geo. Kindred, Frank, Byron, and Alfred of Sheridan township.

Mr. Stoolman was an upright, conscientious citizen, who by industry and frugality had attained a competency. He moved to Carroll several years ago with the intention of spending his declining years in ease and comfort. Many others besides his immediate family will mourn his death.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) morning at the home by Rev. Jordan of the Presbyterian church. The remains will be interred in the West Liberty cemetery in Sheridan township.
