May 13, 1915 - Carroll Times - John Dewey, one of the old residents of Sheridan township, but latey of Des Moines, died at his home in Des Moines last Thursday evening of tuberculosis. He had been in feeble health for the past six months. His remains were shipped back here Saturday to the old homestead, where his two sons live, the funeral took place from the residence Sunday afternoon and was largely attended, Mr. Dewey was a very highly respected citizen, and was well liked by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and five sons to mourn his death. They have the sympathy of all.
