Feb 27, 1998 - Carroll Daily Times - A funeral service for George Alfred Dewey of Lanesboro will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Lanesboro Methodist Church in Lanesboro. Mr. Dewey, 83, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City. The Rev. Dwight Grosvenor will officiate the service. Burial will be in East Liberty Cemetery in Lidderdale. Friends will visit after 4 p.m. Monday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

A son of Alfred and Matilda (Main) Dewey, he was born Dec. 29, 1914, in Carroll County. Mr. Dewey farmed and was a carpenter, living in the Lanesboro area for over 60 years. He and Beulah Richardson were married on Aug. 25, 1937, at Douglas, Kan. She passed away in 1950. Mr. Dewey and Eveyln Quinlan were married on Sept. 14, 1954, at Nashua.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Carey of Churdan and Linda Durbin of Des Moines; four sons, Melvin Dewey of Varina; Kenneth Quinlen of Edwardsville, Illinois; David Quinlan of Austin, Minn.; and Joseph Dewey of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. Dewey was preceded in death by wives Beulah, in 1950, and Evelyn, in 1984, and his parents.
