Jan 21, 1963 - Carroll Daily Times - Oliver T. Moates, 81, former Carroll resident, died Saturday night, Jan. 19, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Johnson, at Linn Grove. Known as 'Pop', Mr. Moates was with the Carroll Fire Department for 30 years. His wife died in 1956; and since then he had made his home at Linn Grove with his daughter. He was born Oct. 21, 1881.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Huffman Funeral Home, with burial in the Carroll City Cemetery. The Rev Allan M. Peterson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Mr. Moates is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Johnson (Helen), and one son, Charles Moates, Bloomington, Minn.
