May 30, 1907 - Carroll Times - After being at the hospital for several months suffering with a dropsical affliction and heart trouble, Edward Lynch passed away Sunday evening. Departed was a native of Ballynacally, Auchonnish, parish of Ogonnolloe, County Clare, Ireland, a descendant of a good old Irish family. He came to the United States many years ago and dropped remarks at times which indicate he had relatives in this country. A nephew is said to reside in Chicago, but the departed seems never to have kept in touch with any member of his family. He was a single man, very saving and acquired a good farm in Carroll township where he "bached it" for years.

While not of a sociable disposition Ed Lynch was honorable, industrious, frugal and in every way a good peaceable citizen. His mode of living does of course not appeal to anyone seeking the brighter side of life, but no man is entirely free in a choice of disposition and so long as he was involving no-one else into sharing his cheerless lot, we can regard his moods and whims with charity. He sought religious consolation when he realized his condition and died fortified with the rites of the Catholic church. The remains were intered Tuesday forenoon, services being held by Father Farrelly at St. Joseph's church.
