Feb 14, 1957 - Carroll Daily Times - Requiem mass will be read by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P.T. Lynch at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Church for Miss Nell O'Donnell, 77, who died at 11:16 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Hospital. Members of Court St. Rose of Lima No. 6, Catholic Daughters of America, will attend the rites in a group. Burial will be in the family lot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The body is resting at the Sharp Funeral Home.

Miss O'Donnell was known over the state of Iowa for her work in the Catholic Daughters of America. She was the first state regent of the organization. A charter member of Court St. Rose of Lima. For 30 years she had been a district deputy in Iowa.

Daughter of John and Mary O'Donnell, Carroll county pioneers, Miss O'Donnell was born on a farm near Maple River August 1, 1879. She lived on this farm until 1920, when she moved with her mother and her sister, Mary, into a residence at 209 North Court Street, Carroll. In her younger days, Miss O'Donnell had taught rural schools of the county.

She is survived by one brother, Edward J. O'Donnell of Sioux City, who has been here with her since she was put in the hospital Feb 9. Miss O'Donnell has been in failing health for several years and seriously ill the last month.

Her father died in 1891 and her mother in 1925. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Michael, John, Terry, James, William, George, and Thomas O'Donnell and two sisters, Mary O'Donnell and Mrs Frank (Margaret) Bromert.
