Feb 8, 1917 - Carroll Times - Funeral services for Mrs. J. F. Kane, whose death was mentioned in last week's paper, were held at St. Joseph's church Saturday morning. Mrs. Kane, who will also be remembered as Miss Mary Bowler, was the oldest daughter of Mrs. John Bowler of this city, having been born in Columbus, Ohio, thirty-nine years ago.

While she had written her mother less than two weeks ago that she was not feeling very well, her illness was taken to be but a small matter and nothing was thought of it. Her mother and the other members of the family received a severe shock when the message came, stating her death. Death was caused by inflamation of the heart, due to rheumatism. She was married sixteen years ago in this city to J.F. Kane, who survives her. They spent the first years of their married life in Omaha and later moved to Chicago, moving later back to Omaha but returning to Chicago about six years ago.

Those present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Dennis O'Connor, of Omaha; Mrs, James Dumphy, of Ida Grove; Mr. and Mrs. George Bartles, of Grand Junction, and a cousin, Miss Mary Bowler, of Omaha.
