Jan 27, 1947 - Carroll Times - Mrs. E.J. Broderick of Tama, formerly of Carroll, succumbed to a lingering illness at Tama Saturday. The requiem mass will be read at the Catholic church in Tama tomorrow morning. The body will then be brought to St. Joseph church here, where a brief prayer service is scheduled to be held at 2 o'clock.

Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery beside her husband, who died several years ago. Pallbearers will be: Al A. Osten, Tom J. Finegan, Henry J. Conway, James Moran, M.L. Collison, and S.S. Kudsk.

Mrs. Broderick, whose maiden name was Maude Youngman, taught in the Carroll public schools before her marriage. After her husband's death she returned to Tama, her old home. In recent years she had been on the faculty of the Tama public school.

Jan 29, 1947 - Carroll Times - A brief prayer service was conducted at St. Joseph church here at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon for Mrs. E.J. Broderick, 60, of Tama, formerly of Carroll, who died at Tama Saturday. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. P. T. Lynch officiated at the church rites and also at the committal service in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Broderick was buried beside her husband who died September 29, 1941. Requiem mass was read in the morning at the Catholic church in Tama.

In the group of approximately 12 relatives who accompanied the body to Carroll were Mrs. Broderick's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. T. Hutchinson, and their daughter, of Washington, D.C., a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Youngman, and brother, Art Youngman, of Tama. Friends from Boone were also here.

Before her marriage, which took place April 26, 1930, Mrs. Broderick, whose maiden name was Maude Youngman, taught in the Carroll public school system. After Mr. Broderick's death, she returned to her old home at Tama.
