Feb 6, 1951 - Carroll Daily Times - Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Huffman Funeral home for Mrs. P.T. Waples, 78, who died at the Tryon Nursing home, 524 North Carroll street, early Saturday afternoon. The Rev. G. Hugo Orf, minister of the Methodist church, officiated. Lee Bratten sang, "Just As I Am" and "Abide With Me," accompanied by Mrs. Carroll Lane, pianist, who also played before and after the service. Burial was in the Carroll cemetery. Pallbearers, members of the Odd Fellows lodge, were: Benton Weeber, Edward Hanneman, George S. Miller, John Barr, Art Rogers and Robert Rogers.

Mrs. Waples, born Nov. 20, 1872, at Onawa, had lived in Carroll 25 years. A daughter of Sidney C. and Eliza A. Hoadley, her maiden name was Josephine Hoadley. She was married Aug. 11, 1898, at Sioux City, Ia., to Preston T. Waples, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Darrell Waples, Rutland, S.D., and Dr. Norman E. Waples, Jefferson; 12 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

One son, Ivan L. Waples, of Lincoln, Neb., preceded his mother in death.

Mrs. Waples was a member of the Rebekah lodge. Death claimed her after a long illness. She had been at the nursing home the last six years.

Out-of-town relatives here for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Waples and daughter, Marcia of Rutland, SD, and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Waples, Aurora, S.D.; Dr. and Mrs. Norman E Waples, Jefferson; Mrs. Waples niece, Mrs. Paul Ingham, Mapleton; Mr, Waples brother, E.S. Waples, Jefferson; and nephew, Elliot Waples, Cedar Rapids. Among out-of-town friends were Glenn Chandler of Onawa and Dr. and Mrs. Paul Baker, Denison.
