Dec 7, 1959 - Carroll Daily Times - Martin Jacobsen, 81, died about 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Wille, 638 West 16th Street, Carroll. He had been in failing health for the past six months. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. At 10 a.m. Thursday Mr. Jacobsen's body will be taken to the First Methodist Church at Dedham where it may be viewed until 1:15 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Lester L. Moore, Manning, officiating. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.

Mr. Jacobsen was born in Denmark May 10, 1878, a son of Martin and Marie Jacobsen. At the age of two years he came to the United States with his parents. They settled in the Exira vicinity, where they engaged in farming.

He married Mary Schrum at Templeton March 4, 1908, and they settled in Dedham for two years. They farmed in the vicinity of Dedham until their retirement. In 1953 they moved to Carroll, where they made their home. Mrs. Jacobsen died May 7, 1954 and since that time Mr. Jacobsen made his home with his children in Carroll. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Dedham.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, William Jacobsen, who died Nov. 7, 1958. Mr. Jacobsen was the last member of a family of seven.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William (Violet) Wille and Mrs. Charles (Mary) Youmans, Carroll; and Mrs. William (Lillian) Morris Jr., who lives in Utah; three grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
