May 8, 1956 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs. Martin Jacobsen, 79, of 521 North East Street, Carroll, died at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony Hospital after a short illness. She had been admitted to the hospital Saturday evening. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Methodist Church in Dedham, with the Rev. Darrell Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Sharp Funeral Home from 7 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the final rites.

Mrs. Jacobsen, who spent most of her life in Carroll County, was a former postmistress at Templeton. She was born Mary Dorothea Schrum Sept. 14, 1876, at Kankakee, Illinois. At the age of three years she came to Templeton with her parents, Marx and Mary Schrum. She married Mr. Jacobsen March 4, 1908, at Templeton. The couple farmed in the vicinities of Dedham and Templeton until they retired in July, 1958 and moved into the present home here.

Mrs. Jacobsen is survived by her husband; one son, William, at home; three daughters, Mrs. William (Violet) Wille, Carroll; Mrs. Charles (Mary E.) Youmans, Westside, and Mrs. William A. (Lillian) Morris Jr., Spring Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jo Ann, Mary Kay and Charles Youmans, Westside, and one brother, George H. Schrum, Templeton.

One son, Melvin G. Jacobsen, died in July, 1986, at San Diego, Calif. Mrs. Jacobsen was a member of the Dedham Methodist Church and the Woman's Society of Christian Service.
