August 31, 1981 - Carroll Daily times - Mrs. Elvira Lucille Veerhusen, 52, of Carroll, died Saturday, August 29, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 31, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald Wuertz officiating. Cindy Raebel was organist and Marvin Toft soloist. Burial, under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home of Carroll, was in the Carroll cemetery. Serving as casketbearers were Robert Kaiser, Randy Kaiser, David Farrell, Leo Petersohn, Earl Meiers and Lyle Rungee.

Mrs. Veerhusen is survived by her husband Johnny; three children: Mrs. Mark (Linda) Kessinger, Des Moines; Randy, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Karen, Glenwood, Iowa; two grandchildren, Tracy and Mark Kessinger; a sister, Mrs. Esther Kaiser, Palmer, Iowa; and a brother William Becker, Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jerry.

Mrs. Veerhusen was born February 5, 1929, at Lytton, a daughter of Henry and Christina Nuehring Becker. She attended school in Lytton and graduated from Lytton High School.

She worked as an assistant cashier at the Lytton Bank for eight years after her graduation. On December 11, 1954, she was married to Johnny Veerhusen at Emmanuel St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton. After their marriage, they made their home in Carroll. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Carroll American Legion Auxiliary. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith March 29, 1942.
