April 8, 1992 - Carroll Times - Luella Maxine Meiers, 71, of Carroll, died Tuesday April 7, 1992, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, following a long illness. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday April 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll, with Pastor Charles Haake officiating. Burial will be at the Carroll City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Earl Hulsing, Charlie Hill, Robert Henrich, Dick Beck, Terry Bemdt, and Dale Cerny. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The casket will be moved to the church at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Meiers was born June 26, 1920, in Manning, a daughter of Sherman and Augusta (Jansen) Farrell. She attended Manning High School. After graduating from high school in 1937, she worked for Priebe Egg Plant in Manning. On July 10, 1943, she was married to Earl Meiers in Long Beach, Calif. She worked at Ocoma Foods in Carroll, and then cooked for many years at Denny's Restaurant. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Earl, of Carroll; two daughters, Barbara Berndt and her husband, Charles, of Nixa, Mo.; and Carol Cerny and her husband, Dean, of Fairbury, Neb.; three sons, James Meiers and his wife, Karen, of Lubbock, Texas; Donald Meiers and his wife, Sue, of Carroll; and David Meiers and his wife, Meshelle, of Rolla, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and two brothers: Jimmy Farrell of San Diego, Calif.; and Guy Farrell of Fayetteville, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon and Roy Farrell; three sisters, Florence, Bonnie, and Ruby; and one grandchild, Tony.
