April 26, 1971 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs. J.D. (Emma Irene) Irwin, 83, of Carroll died at St. Anthony Hospital Saturday, April 24, after a brief illness. Rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home, with burial in the Carroll City Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ernest F. Martin, pastor of First United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mrs. Irwin was born April 29, 1887, at Lohrville, a daughter of Jacob and Sarah Blankenburg Herman, and spent the greater part of her life at Carroll. Her marriage to Mr. Irwin took place at Lohrville June 12, 1909. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church here.

She was preceded in death by a son, Harry, in 1935; her husband in 1950; four sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Irwin is survived by six nephews and nieces: John Herman of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Merle Trinkle of Casey; Gail Herman of Fort Dodge; Joe Herman of Glidden; Mrs. Phillip Newbanks of Lohrville; and Joann Fielding of Channel View, Tex.
