Dec 13, 1950 - Carroll Daily Times - J. D. Irwin, 629 West 14th Street was taken to St. Anthony hospital today for treatment of a rifle shot wound in the head. His condition is listed as critical by the attending physician. Mr. Irwin has operated a typewriter repairing business here for a number of years. He has been in ill health.

Dec 16, 1950 - Carroll Daily Times - J.D. Irwin, 65, typewriter repairman, died at 3:15 p.m. yesterday at St. Anthony hospital where he had been admitted Wednesday morning for treatment of a rifle shot wound in his head. An inquest was conducted yesterday afternoon by Dr. J. Lawrence Cochran, county coroner. The body is resting at the Huffman Funeral home, where services will be held at 1:30 p. m., Monday. The Rev. C. Hugo Orf, minister of the Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in the Carroll city cemetery.

Jadie Dean Irwin was born Ang. 22, 1885, at St. Joe, Indiana, a son of Alva D. and Emma Kneley Irvin, both of whom are deceased. He was married to Emma Irene Herman June 12, 1909, at Lohrville. Their only child, Harry H., died Sept. 19, 1935.

Mr. Irwin had lived in Iowa since 1906 and in Carroll county since Septemher 1913. For the last 32 years Mr. and Mrs. Irwin have resided in their home at 629 West 14th Street.

Surviving with his wife are his step-mother, three half-brothers; and three half-sisters; all living in Fort Wayne, Ind. Mr. Irwin was a member of the Methodist church.
