July 10, 1937 - Carroll Daily - Charles Pluckhahn of Churdan, son of Mrs. Sophia Pluckhahn of Carroll, died suddenly at his home near Churdan about 4:30 o'clock Friday afternoon, a victim of a heart attack aggravated by the heat. Mr. Pluckhahn, who lived on the Henry Kohnke farm, was working in the field with Mr. Kohnke, getting ready to harvest, when he was overcome. While attaching the binder to the tractor, he suddenly collapsed.

Fearing he was dead, yet hoping that they were wrong in their belief, Mr. Kohnke and Mrs. Pluckhahn started for Carroll at once, intending to bring Mr. Pluckhahn to the hospital here. They stopped at the home of Mr. Pluckhahn's mother, Mrs. Sophia Pluckhahn, on East Sixth street, realizing by that time that Mr. Pluckhahn had passed away when he was stricken. The body was taken Saturday afternoon from the Huffman Funeral home to his mother's home at 426 East Sixth street.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, with the Rev. A.O. Bleeke, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, officiating. A short service at the home of Mr. Pluckhahn's mother, 426 East Sixth street, at 1:30 o'clock, will be followed by final rites at St. Paul's Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the Carroll cemetery.

Mr. Pluckhahn, a son of Christian and Sophia Koepke Pluckhahn, was born at Lyons, N.Y., April 18, 1883. He came to Carroll with his parents in the spring of 1897, the family residing on a farm northeast of Carroll.

On Dec. 27, 1909, Mr. Pluckhahn was married to Miss Olive Booth of Carroll. They have farmed the greater part of the time since then, having lived northeast of Carroll for a number of years. In 1931 they moved to Carroll from the farm, living here until this spring, when they moved to the farm near Churdan. Mr. Pluckhahn was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church of Carroll, in which he was confirmed in 1897.

Surviving are his wife and two children, Mrs. George Harms and Adrian Pluckhahn, both of Carroll, his mother, Mrs. Sophia Pluckhahn, a brother, Fred Pluckhahn, of Carroll, and two sisters, Mrs. Anton Sporleder of Lidderdale and Mrs. Albert C. Reinowski of Carroll. He also leaves three grandchildren. His father passed away a number of years ago.
