OBITUARY OF JONATHAN:

JOHN KELLY DIES AT CARROLL HOSPITAL
Aged Glidden Citizen unable to withstand affliction and answers call, last Monday. Reached age 82 . He had been a resident of the Glidden Community for the past 28 years.

John S. Kelly died at St. Anthonys Hospital at Carroll last Monday. He had gone there a few days before for treatment for a malady that had been long giving him trouble. His advanced age made his recovery more incertain and he quietly passed away.

Mr. Kelly moved to Glidden with his family three years ago and they have resided in their home south of the railroad tracks since that time. He has lived in this community for about twenty eight years.

The funeral is being held at the home this afternoon, in charge of Rev H.G Hicks of the local Methodist Church. Interment will take place at Westlawn.

Jonathan Stillwood Kelly **was born in Austin County, NY, Aug. 1, 1864 (ACTUALLY BORN IN DELAWARE COUNTY NY) and died at Carroll, Sept 3, 1923. aged 82 years. ****MY NOTE: This would make him 59 - not 82. In July 1880 he was united in marriage to Sarah Robinson and to this union eleven children were born- three having died in infancy. The remaining ones are, Zera, Walter, Delia, Lizzie, Cora, Corles and Willie. Besides his wife and eight children there are 28 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters to mourn his departure.

Mr Kelly enjoyed a wide acquaintance and friendship in Glidden and north of town where he resided so long, all of whom sorrow with the relatives in his death.

***Notes attached from another researchers notes:
Jonathan Stillwood Kelley was born August 1, 1841 came to Iowa from Binghamton NY. His mothers maiden name was Farhum. Jonathan was married before marrying Sarah, his first wife died, leaving him two children, A Johnny R. and Mae Jones.

**** MY NOTE: Mothers maiden name wrong and first wife did not die.

******MY NOTES: His first wife Freelove Hilliker did not die, they were divorced around 1880. She is showing alive in the 1880 census with 2 children, John R, (my grandfather) and Cora Mae. **Also according to his wife Sarah's obit, the were married in Deleware county in 1880. I have Freelove's death date as 1908, Andes, Delaware County.

*****Unconfirmed> Jonathan and Sarah are buried at the Dickson Cemetery, Carroll County Iowa

If anyone has any comments on this, I would appreciate it. I feel that the person who gave the information was guessing at some of the details. Renee
