Robert Kepple Obit – from the Coon Rapids Enterprise, 3 Apr 2003:

Robert Earl, son of Frank and Martha M. (Tracy) Kepple, was born October 11, 1925, at Bayard, where he attended school.

On December 21, 1942, Robert enlisted with the United States Coast Guard and served at California and Hawaii during World War II until receiving his honorable discharge on October 5, 1945.

On August 11, 1945, Robert was united in marriage with Naomi L. Herron at Carroll. One daughter, Joyce was born to this union. They also raised two nieces Linda and Jane. Robert was a grain inspector and the family lived in Des Moines until moving to McGregor in 1963. After Robert retired in 1991, he and Naomi moved to Bayard.

Robert enjoyed golfing, collecting golf balls, gardening and caring for his lawn. While in McGregor, he enjoyed spending time at the river skiing, boating, fishing and camping. For several years, Robert and Naomi wintered from October to April in Florida and Texas.

On Thursday, March 27, 2003, Robert died at Guthrie Center Hospital in Guthrie Center, following a brief illness. He was 77 years, 5 months and 16 days of age.

Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son in infancy Van Wilson, four brothers: Harlan, Raymond, Morti and Charles Kepple; and two sisters Wilma Whalley and Hazel Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Naomi Kepple of Bayard; daughter Joyce and husband Ron White of McGregor; nieces they raised: Linda Jones of Des Moines, and her children Tom and Tammy Jones; Jane and her husband Ron Rumph of Earlham and their children Ted and James Rumph; and numerous relatives and friends.

Private family services for Robert Kepple were held Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Rogers officiating at the Ohde Funeral Home in Bayard.
