Death of Grandma Keziah Mitts

Mother of O. D. Mitts Died at His Home in this City Saturday.

Grandma Mitts died at her home on Clark street, Saturday afternoon about 4 o'clock. She had been troubled with rheumatism of the heart for several years and this is thought to be the immediate cause of her death.

Keziah J. McDaniel was born in Wayne county, Ill., in 1832. Moved in 1846 to Wisconsin, where she was married to Morgan V. Mitts. Five children were born to them: Theodosia, who died when a child, Emma Hoover, also deceased, Mrs. Sidney Pinch of Manchester, Iowa, and O. D. and John both of this city. Mr. Mitts was a soldier in the civil war and died in 1863. Then Mrs. Mitts, with the children, moved in 1876 to eastern Iowa and in 1881 to Carroll where she has since resided. She was a good christian woman having united with the Christian church in her early girlhood days. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the M. E. church, Rev. J. W. Abel officiating. The church was filled with friends from al over the county, who came to pay their last respects to the deceased.
