Death of W. B. Light.

Mrs. W. B. Light and her son Will have returned from their old home in Pennsylvania where they were called by the fatal illness of Mr. Light. They arrived at Lebanon only an hour before the deceased passed away.

From the Lebanon Daily News of the first inst. we reproduce the following:

"William B. Light died Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Shenk, Buffalo Springs, aged about 67 years. He had been seriously ill only a few days and apoplexy is supposed to have been the immediate cause of death. Deceased was born in South Lebanon township, where he grew up. He married Mary Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Groh, and for a number of years they farmed the Groh farm, at Half Way. His wife died and three daughters survived. These are married to Cyrus Smith, Midway; Samuel Demmy, Sweet Home, and Abraham Shenk, Buffalo Springs. Deceased then moved to Avon and engaged in the lumber business about 15 years. He married Sarah Strohm of Jonestown, and later moved to Iowa where they resided until fall, when he came east to visit his children and friends. Mrs. Light and their two sons, William H. and Joseph S., came here Saturday in time to reach the bedside of the husband and father a few hours before he expired. Deceased was an active business man in his time, a good citizen, kind husband and father and took an active interest in the church. Deceased had been in feeble health out west and came back to the place of his birth and the scenes of his younger years, possibly with a foreboding that his end was near at hand. His wife and the five children named survive him. He was a member of the Myerstown and Avon U. B. churches before going west."

The deceased came to this county with his family thirteen years ago and settled on a farm of Cyrus Mark's in Newton township. After living there for four years the family moved to Casey and stayed there till three years ago when they took up their home in Carroll. Last November Mr. Light went on a visit to his old home in Pennsylvania and enjoyed fairly good health till the fatal spell came upon him. He was a man of most sterling character and bore the respect of all who knew him. His remains were interred in the old church yard in the vicinity where he spent the greater part of his life.
