Grandma Brigham Passes Away

At the age of eighty years. She was a Christian woman and was beloved by all.

A Patient Sufferer

For many years but met life's duties with Christian fortitude.

Mrs. Lydia Brigham died at the home of her grandson, Frank B. Beiter, Saturday night, from a complication of diseases. For the past several years she had been in poor health and last year she went to California hoping there to find relief. A few months ago she made a second trip west but as her condition did not much improve and it was her desire to again return to Carroll where she could spend her last days with relatives and friends. About three weeks ago she came, accompanied by her grandson, Joe Beiter, who went out to assist the aged lady in her journey. Her faithful relatives administered to her every want and made her life as pleasant as it was possible to do under the circumstances.

Deceased was born in Vermont, July 12, 1827. She was united in marriage to John Brigham at Middleton, Ky. In 1860 they moved to Iowa, settling in Jones county and to their union were born five children, none of whom are now living. Her husband died in 1863 in St. Louis while in the army.

Deceased was well known to the citizens of Carroll where she has resided for many years and during which time she formed many friends who note her departure with genuine regret. She was a woman whose kindness and sacrifices of love were unmeasurable.

The funeral service took place this afternoon at 2:30 at the home of Frank B. Beiter.
