Peter Vanderloo jr. Dies Suddenly at 12:15 Sunday Morning While in the Company of His Associates
Coon Rapids Reporter.

Early Sunday morning the sad news spread over the town of the death of Peter Vanderloo jr. The facts of the case are as follows: He and his associates, after going to the "flyer," visited Monroe Brown's room, which is in the rear of Merson's barber shop, to spend a social evening and to joke with Brown. They were there only a short time when his death occurred. He was sitting in a chair, and raised up as though going to leave the place, but sank back in the chair and pulled his hat over his eyes. At first the boys thought he was fooling, but later discovered he was dying. They did all they could to restore him, but without success. Dr. Gibson was called and did all medical science could do for him, but it availed nothing. The body was removed to Hampton's undertaking establishment, and Coroner Patty notified. He and Sheriff Nestle arrived Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. A jury was selected consisting of J. D. Rover, S. H. Agnew and W. H. Rickerson. About a dozen witnesses were examined and at the close of the inquest the jury agreed the cause of death was apoplexy, and so found.

The funeral was held from the Catholic church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, being conducted by Rev. Father McAuliffe, the pastor. The services were attended by fully 350 people, thus showing the high esteem in which he was held. The floral decorations were lovely. He had just passed the age -- 21 -- manhood's estate, and it makes it thus the more sad to his parents and family. His sudden death in the early morning of manhood was a severe shock to his friends.

He carried an insurance policy of $1,000 in the Woodman order, which was in favor of his mother. The procession from the church to the cemetery was very large and imposing, made more so by the six pall bearers on white horses: Messrs. Herman Bengfort, Tom Moylan, Len Grennen, Charles and James McDonald and Fred Kennedy. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the distressed parents and family in the sudden death of their son and brother.
