MRS. GENEVIEVE GEHLING

Mrs. Genevieve Gehling, 78, of Carroll, died Saturday, December 25, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at. 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, at Holy Spirit church with the Rev. Roger Augustine, V.F., as celebrant. Lectors will be granddaughters Patricia McLean, Mary Rasmussen and Joyce Gehling. A nephew, Greg Gruber, and grandsons, Kenneth and Roger Gehling, will be mass-servers and granddaughters, Annette, Lori, Stephanie and Lisa Gehling will be gift-bearers. A daughter, Sister Joann Gehling will give communion reflection. Sons George, Edward, James, Robert, Carl and Gerald will be active casketbearers. Honorary bearers will be granddaughters, Margene Heisterkamp, Karen Gertz, Nancy Cornelius. Diane Vonnahme, Jean Gehling and Linda Gehling. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Visitation at the Twit Funeral home in Carroll will be after 2:30 p.m. Monday. Rosaries will be recited at 3 p.m. Monday by the Legion of Mary and at 8 p.m. by the parish. A prayer service by the sisters will be held at 4 p.m., and a scriptural prayer service will be conducted at 8:45 p.m. Monday.

Mrs. Gehling is survived by the following children: George Gehling, Grand Meadow, Minn.; Mrs. Louis (Rita) Anstoeter, Manning; Mrs. Walter (Louise) Schmitz, Templeton; Mrs. Wilfred (Rose) Ocken, Carroll; Mrs. Edward (Norma) Rasmussen, Newton; Ed, James, Robert and Carl Gehling, Carroll; Sister Joann Gehling, Hiawatha, Iowa; Gerald Gehling, Harrington. Ill., and a brother. Edward Gross, Hayfield, Minn.; 44 grandchildren and 41 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 6, 1943; a son Vernon on December 9, 1967; a sister Mrs. George (Dorothy) Gruber; a brother Clarence Gross and two grandsons.

Mrs. Gehling was born 10 November, 1904, in Carroll, a daughter of Frank and Theresa Schiltz Gross. She was married to Herman J. Gehling on January 31,1923, at SS. Peter and Paul church in Carroll. She had been a resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll for the past eight months.

Mrs. Gehling was a member of Holy Spirit parish, the Ladies Guild and the Legion of Mary.
